Dear Faculty and Staff,
This past Monday, U.S. News & World Report released its list of the 2024 Best Colleges, and I am pleased to share that UHCL has made significant strides. We now rank No. 12 in the “Top Public Schools” among public Texas Universities and have jumped 27 spots to No. 304 among all national universities. Additionally, we hold the No. 162 position for “Top Public Schools” on a national scale. These rankings are not just points of pride; they demonstrate that our collective efforts are impactful and invaluable in providing the best educational experience for our students.
Further accentuating our laser-focused approach to student success and upward mobility, UHCL has made a significant leap in the 'Top Performer for Social Mobility' rankings, moving up 66 spots to No. 143 among national universities. This rise underscores our unwavering commitment to student success by ensuring that our students not only graduate but develop the skills necessary for successful professional careers.
In addition to these rankings, several UHCL programs also earned distinctions in this year's rankings, showcasing the university's strengths across multiple disciplines:
- Business Programs
- Computer Science Program
- Psychology Program
- Undergraduate Engineering Program (no doctorate)
Beyond these program-specific achievements, UHCL was also recognized for Campus Ethnic Diversity and Least Debt for the second year in a row, further demonstrating the university's dedication to all the communities we serve and commitment to affordable education.
As we take a moment to celebrate these achievements, let us also view them as catalysts for what lies ahead. These accolades set new benchmarks, inspire our students, and pave the way for even greater regional impact.
Thank you for being an integral part of this remarkable journey. Your hard work, unwavering commitment, and passionate contributions across all facets of university life serve as the driving forces that fuel our collective achievements.
Sincerely,
Richard Walker, Ed.D.
President
